Summer Pests in Winter
4th January 2012, by Red Pest Control
There are many arguments around the effects on the environment of global warming
At RED Pest Control we are seeing these effects by the increased appearance of traditional summer pests during winter months.
Most notable are the number of calls we are receiving for Garden Ants.
It was traditionally believed that our native ant nests die off in the winter with only hibernating queens surviving through to the spring.
We are receiving calls from clients where worker ants actively foraging all the way through the winter.
The pest control forums are buzzing with pest controllers reporting the same upsurge in winter ant call outs.
This started a debate in the office the other day that if ants are becoming more common in winter months, when will we see the first wasps nest of 2013?
We will update the news section when the first nest of the year is reported.
